Our Team

Our coaches are responsible for recruitment and developing links with schools across South Wales. We are continuously working towards meeting the high standards of sports coaching schools and parents have come to expect from our team at PlaySports.

PlaySports' professional team of coaches have acquired vast knowledge and experience in many sports, developing a strong background in the sports industry. Our coaches hold a number of sports related qualifications in a variety of areas; from coaching and development degrees to awards from National Governing Bodies and frameworks such as Sports Leaders UK, the UKCC, Sports Coach UK and many more.

Our coaches strive to establish and maintain good working relationships with Head Teachers and organisations where we operate, along with providing quality Sports Coaching.

Our team is able to provide a fun, safe and welcoming environment for young people to try new sports and foster an interest in a healthy lifestyle and the benefits of sport and exercise.

We are also able to cater to groups of all levels between the ages of 3 to 11 as all of our coaches are fully qualified in various sports as well as being trained in First Aid and safeguarding and vetted through the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).

Sports Coaches wanted

PlaySports are looking to recruit dynamic individuals who are enthusiastic and motivated to gain experience and develop a career in sport and P.E. We are looking for coaches who want children to take part in sport, enjoy exercise and gain new interests. Coaches also need to develop children’s basic techniques in sport and promote health through fun physical activity.

Duties will include planning and delivering educational and enjoyable sports sessions targeted at children aged 3 to 11. These sessions will take place through a variety of services such as breakfast clubs, PPA & supply cover, lunchtime sport and after school club sport.

Working hours are between 7:30am & 6pm, and are based before, during and after the school day. Therefore, we are looking for flexible individuals who are interested in both casual and part time roles. Please ask for further details during the interview process.

The following points are essential:

  • Relevant A level (or equivalent) qualification in a sports related subject (e.g. BTEC sports coaching/development).
  • Full Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle.
  • The ability to plan, deliver and evaluate a variety of fun and structured sessions to KS1 and KS2 children.
  • Excellent leadership and behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to communicate well with key partners such as school teachers, PlaySports staff and other relevant personnel.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and as an individual under your own initiative.

The following points are desirable (you can possess one or more of these, and/or be working towards):

  • A current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • First Aid Award.
  • Child Protection/Safeguarding Award.
  • A relevant degree qualification in sport, dance or drama at Second Class Honours (2:2) or above.
  • A variety of coaching qualifications at various levels (e.g. leaders awards, level 1 and level 2) in a number of sports.
  • Ability to speak fluent Welsh.

Sports Coach Full Time

PlaySports are looking to recruit a dynamic individual who is enthusiastic and motivated to develop a career in sport and P.E. We are looking for an experienced coach who wants children to take part in sport by enjoying exercise and gaining new interests. You will also need to develop children’s basic techniques in sport and promote health through fun physical activity.

Duties will include planning and delivering educational and enjoyable sports sessions targeted at children aged 3 to 11. These sessions will take place through a variety of services such as breakfast clubs, PPA & supply cover, lunchtime sport and after school club sport.

Working hours are between 7:30am & 6pm, and are based before, during and after the school day. The hours will be a minimum of 35 hours a week (term time), with the option of over time during school holidays.

The contracted hours are on a permanent basis subject to a 6 month probationary period and review following this time.

Duration: Yearly term time rolling contract (subject to 6 month probation).

Wage Type: National Minimum Wage (age dependent) rising after successful completion of the probationary period.

Additions: Mileage allowance fee.

Sports Coaching & Level 3 Customer Service Apprenticeships

PlaySports are looking to recruit Apprentice Sports Coaches to cover a wide ranging role. This opportunity will allow individuals to learn, develop and apply their skills in the working environment as well as set the foundations to build a career in sport.

Duties will include planning and delivering varied sports sessions targeted at children aged 3-11 on a weekly basis. These sessions will take place before, during and after the school day; for example, breakfast sports clubs, covering teacher's PPA time and providing lunchtime sport activities, along with after school club sport sessions. Successful applicants will also be expected to take up an office based position to develop a variety of skills and have a positive effect in order to develop and improve our business.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate the ability to plan and deliver safe and enjoyable sports sessions with the aim of developing children’s fundamental movement skills, basic techniques in sport and promote health through physical activity. Individuals should also demonstrate the desire to learn and develop skills in a fast paced office environment.

During this time you would be expected to assist the PlaySports staff members and other relevant personnel with any duties requested of you.

Hours will vary between 7:30am & 6pm, between 25 to 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This allows you to work alongside studying for your apprenticeship as well as any other commitments. Please ask for further details during the interview process where this can be discussed.

Duration: Apprenticeship Agreement (minimum 12 months).

Wage Type: Apprentice; Inc. Mileage.

The following points are essential:

  • Relevant A level (or equivalent) qualification in a sports related subject (e.g. BTEC sports coaching/development).
  • Full Driver's Licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to plan and deliver fun, structured sessions and activities to primary school aged children.
  • Ability to communicate well with key partners such as school teachers, PlaySports staff and other relevant personnel.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to a time scale.
  • Desire to achieve additional qualifications whilst learning and gaining new experiences.

The following points are desirable (you can possess one or more of these, and/or be working towards):

  • A Sports Leaders award or awards.
  • A minimum of a level 1 or 2 National Governing Body Coaching Award (or equivalent) in sport.
  • First Aid Award.
  • Child Protection/Safeguarding Award.
  • Ability to speak fluent Welsh.
  • A variety of coaching qualifications in a number of sports.
